2020 Pinot Noir, Ram's Gate Estate
The 2020 vintage was marked by ideal growing conditions from budbreak through veraison, however after the first full year of drought in the region yields were down, producing toy-like clusters, bursting with flavor. This vintage also marked our first full growing season at the Estate Vineyard farming with organic principles. Fermented with native yeasts in both oak Foudres and stainlesssteel tanks, it is noticeably fruit driven, even in its youth. With the concentration of the vintage, the aromas have shifted toward red currants, cranberry preserves, and blood orange on the nose. The hallmark baking spices and bramble fruit that we associate with this wine is felt on the palate with equally balanced tannin and acidity--creating an extremely satisfying mouthfeel. Although it’s a smaller yield, 456 cases only, this is an actionpacked wine that will provide immense enjoyment for a decade or more.
