2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, Berler Vineyard
The 2021 vintage is a beautifully crafted expression that reveals the strength and character of its mountaintop terroir, nestled in the northern reaches of the Mayacamas Mountain Range. Our block of Berler Vineyard sits at the highest point of this property, where volcanic soils and a steep, north-facing slope allow the vines to thrive. The fruit ripens slowly and evenly here, thanks to the extreme conditions that balance intense sun exposure with cool mountain nights.
In 2021, Northern California experienced its second consecutive year of drought, leading to a particularly low yield of just 1.2 tons per acre. The result is a wine of extraordinary concentration, yet one that retains an elegant, refined nature. The nose is complex and layered, with aromas of California chaparral, dried figs, and dark blackberry preserves.
