2021 Chardonnay, Bucher Vineyard
We're always on the lookout for new and unique vineyards, and this is an excellent one in the middle reach of the Russian River. The newest addition to our single vineyard portfolio, the vineyard is nestled in undulating southern-oriented hills and benefits from the morning marine layer and the afternoon concentration of California sunshine.
Unlike many of our Chardonnays which are a blend of multiple clones, this is crafted exclusively from the highly coveted Hyde derivative of Wente Clone. The fruit is action-packed and immensely enjoyable, with classic 'hens and chicks' (millerandage) clusters.
On the nose, the intensity of this vineyard is unmistakable, with lemon confit, shaved almonds, and distinct noble reduction. The wine is one of the fuller-bodied whites in our portfolio, with a terrific richness that is equally matched with brilliant acidity and is an instant classic.
