2022 Pinot Blanc, Ram's Gate Estate
Amidst a string of distinctive harvests in Northern California, 2022 bore witness to a second consecutive year of drought, compounded by unprecedented Labor Day weekend heat. Harvested nearly a month ahead of historical norms, this vintage exudes exoticism and full-bodied flavor, yet retains refreshing vibrancy on the palate.
Continuing its tradition rooted in the three distinct clones on our Estate, the wine showcases a notable reduction in the Bien Nacido selection, which historically contributed prominent notes of pear and white peach to the blend. Instead, the Etude and Beringer sections take center stage, yielding a wine characterized by nuances of wheatgrass, fresh honey, and a subtle hint of apricot. This rendition of our Pinot Blanc boasts vibrant acidity and a slight viscosity, making it not merely a delightful summer wine, but also a versatile companion to richer dishes year-round.
