95 Points, Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine
"Among the bigger and richer Chardonnays of the Ram’s Gate lot, but a wine that is as composed and carefully balanced as it is weighty and well-filled, this mouthfilling effort teams plentiful, ripe apple fruit with a tailored complement of sweet oak and subtle suggestions of lees. It is a complete and involving wine at the moment, and it will disappoint no one who opts for hasty drinking, yet it has a rare sense of reserve that augers well for the future and makes a most compelling case for another few years of waiting."

Tasting Notes

Rich golden in color, the 2014 Carneros Chardonnay echoes the finesse and balance prevalent in its single-vineyard counterparts, hallmarking the stunning 2014 vintage. A blend of a few Carneros vineyards, the wine is reminiscent of a baked apple pie: Golden Delicious aromas are accompanied by cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and allspice. A mouthwatering melted Brie component contrasts the baked fruit along with doughy brioche. The fruit carries through the palate, picking up grilled pineapple and additional toasted spice flavors. A wine to drink now and enjoy over the next few years.
