Tasting Notes

55% Syrah, 45% Grenache, 5% Grenache Blanc

Composed of Syrah, Grenache and Grenache Blanc grown on the Ram’s Gate Estate, the Vent de Colline, which translates to “Windy Hill,” is a tribute to the Carneros breezes that so deeply influence our estate’s terroir. Its components and name nod to the blends of France’s Rhône Valley. The two varieties, known for their ability to complement one another, both contribute important ingredients: from Syrah, intense tannins and peppery, meaty flavors appear; Grenache, conversely, provides vibrant acidity and bright red fruit.

Strawberry, raspberry and cranberry aromas lift from the glass, quintessential characteristics of the Carneros wine region. On the palate, integrated yet boisterous tannins add structure to the core of juicy blackberry.
